Required health and safety equipment and procedures within the laboratory is well documented. In order to protect the health and safety of laboratory personnel, students and visitors it is crucial that comprehensive training programs are implemented to ensure all users are familiar with this equipment and procedures. With this in mind, All-Tech Environmental Services Limited offers a training course on the “Safe Use of Laboratory Fume Hoods”. This awareness-training course is designed for laboratory personnel who use Fume Hoods on a regular basis. The outline for the training course is as follows:

4.         Laboratory Safety Overview

  • Chemical storage cabinets, eye wash stations, safety showers, and personal protective

5.         Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Practices

  • Guidelines for using fume hoods safely, practical session operating a fume

6.         Maintenance of Fume Hoods

  • Testing on a regular basis, checklists,

7.         Performance Testing of Fume Hoods

  • Twenty separates in accordance with CSA and ASHRAE

Each participant will receive a course manual, numerous handouts and a course certificate upon completion. The training course is complemented by slide shows and training videos with a short quiz for evaluation purposes.
